Environmental Benefits

Our technology produces a number of significant environmental and public health benefits, including the following:

• Reklaim's tire recycling technology offers a pollution-preventing, resource-conserving alternative to existing methods of disposing of millions of scrap tires each year.
  
  
• The Reklaim scrap tire recycling technology can significantly reduce the number of tires being dumped in landfills, which would conserve land and landfill capacity, reduce habitat for infectious disease vectors, and reduce the environmental and public health risks of tire pile fires.
  
  
• From the recycled scrap tire material, Reklaim extracts products for which there is growing market demand, and it does so in a way that generates significantly lower levels of pollutants than conventional methods of producing these products.
  
  
• The Reklaim recycling process generates about 38% less direct greenhouse gas emissions than burning scrap tires as TDF.
  
  
• The materials extracted from scrap tires by Reklaim technology can extend reserves of, and reduce dependence upon, non-renewable coal and petroleum resources.
  
  
• The Reklaim process requires 47% - 60% less energy per pound of carbon black produced when compared to conventional manufacturing methods, which rely on burning of petroleum oil.
  
  
• The net energy savings from using the Reklaim technology instead of petroleum oil to produce carbon black is more than 48,000 Btus per pound of carbon black produced.
